How entities are counted

Record everyone in the structure. Pay for the entities you manage.

A plan includes a number of managed entities. Everything else in your structure is recorded at no charge, so you never leave out an outside investor or a family member to stay on a plan.

Counts toward your plan

Managed entities

A corporation, trust, or partnership whose tax affairs you manage in TaxDesk: its CRA program accounts, filings and payments, documents, and tax balances.

Unlimited on every plan

Third parties

Investors, outside shareholders, joint-venture partners, and counterparties. They appear on the org chart and cap table so ownership is complete, without a tax record of their own.

Unlimited on every plan

Individuals

Shareholders, trustees, directors, and family members. People never count toward a plan, whether or not you track their own filings.

For CPA firms

A workspace for each client group. One price for the firm.

Keep each client group in its own workspace, with third parties free in every one. Firms pay a single firm-wide price set by the number of client groups they serve. Tell us about your book and we’ll set it up with you.

Questions

Before you choose a plan.

What counts as a managed entity?
A corporation, trust, or partnership whose tax affairs you manage in TaxDesk. Third parties and individuals never count. If you add a CRA account, a filing, or a tax balance to a third party, TaxDesk makes it a managed entity, because it now holds a tax record.
What happens if we manage more entities than our plan includes?
Nothing stops working. Workspace admins see a prompt to move to the plan that fits, and you decide when to change.
Can we change plans?
Yes, at any time from the workspace’s billing settings. When you move up, the prorated difference is charged right away. When you move down, unused time is credited to future invoices.
How does annual billing work?
Annual plans are billed once a year at ten times the monthly price, so two months are free. You can switch between monthly and annual billing from the workspace.
Are prices in Canadian dollars?
Yes. Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude GST/HST and other applicable taxes, which are added at checkout.
How do we get started?
Request access. We set up each new workspace with you, starting from the returns you already have.
How is pricing set for CPA firms?
Firms keep a separate workspace for each client group and pay one firm-wide price based on how many client groups they serve. Contact us and we’ll set it up with you. TaxDesk for CPA firms
Does TaxDesk file returns or connect to CRA?
No. TaxDesk does not file returns or connect to CRA portals. You record each entity’s tax programs, and TaxDesk uses those settings to create filing and payment obligations. You continue to file through your usual channels.
How do you protect data?
Connections are encrypted, and our database and file storage providers encrypt stored data. Every request is checked against your workspace membership and role, and documents download only through a signed-in link. How TaxDesk handles security
Can we export our data?
Yes. You can export org charts as PDFs, and a full export of your workspace data is available on request. Your data belongs to you.
